Opening Ceremony

The YETI Sri Lanka Tennis Association Inter School Cool Tennis Kids Play Day 2023 had its grand opening ceremony on the 26th of October at 8.00 am, held at the SLTA Aggreko courts. The esteemed Chief Guest for the event was Mr.Harsha Alles, while Ms.Amritha Muttaiah graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by the SLTA President, Mr.Iqbal Bin Issack, General Secretary, Mr. Pradeep Goonasekera, and Head of Tennis, Mr. Anupa Maththamagoda. The CEO Malik Perera and Director, Ms. Nishali Perera of the title sponsor, Yeti, were present, along with two representatives, Ms. Shehani Martinus, Brand Manager, and Mr.Ghaffer Ghuse from Denta Teen, the co-sponsor. 

This tournament is specifically organized for participants aged 10 and under. To kick off the event, the Ananda College Western Band delivered a fantastic welcome performance, followed by Ms.Yashodhara, who took charge as the event's compere. 
 
As a gesture of appreciation, four schools were honored with a token for their outstanding contributions. Ananda College received the award for the maximum number of teams entered throughout the island for boys, while Musaeus College secured the honor for girls. Richmond College was recognized for the most teams entered from outstations for boys, and Newstead Girls School was applauded for their highest number of teams entered for girls. These four Schools were entitled for the Rs.50 000 worth of Tennis equipment in appreciation for the development of the game.
 
To culminate the opening ceremony, the dignitaries came together to officially declare the commencement of the tournament by releasing a hydrogen balloon.
