Thrilling Finishes Mark the Men’s Singles Division 1 and 2 Finals

The Annual SLTA Mercantile Tennis Tournament 2025 is currently underway at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts, showcasing exceptional talent from across the mercantile sector. This year’s edition features 35 participating companies, with 408 entries and 222 players competing across 15 events. On 05th November 2025, the spotlight was on the Men’s Singles Division 1 and Men’s Singles Division 2 Finals, both of which delivered exciting and highly competitive tennis. In the Men’s Singles Division 1 Final, Yasitha De Silva (MAS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd) secured a hard-fought victory over Sankha Athukorala (Lanka Minerals & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd). After the two players split the first two sets, Yasitha maintained composure in the decisive match tiebreak to clinch the title. Sankha Athukorala, the runner-up, demonstrated remarkable consistency and competitive spirit throughout the tournament, contributing significantly to a thrilling final. Meanwhile, in the Men’s Singles Division 2 Final, Srinath Udayachandran (Aitken Spence Travels (Pvt) Ltd) produced a confident and composed performance to overcome Akeed Markar (Acuity Knowledge Partners) in straight sets. Akeed Markar, who finished as runner-up, showcased excellent skill and determination, marking a strong campaign and adding to the excitement of the event. The tournament will continue over the coming days as players compete for top honours across the remaining categories, promising more high-quality tennis action at the SLTA Courts.
