High Performance Training Programme
The Sri Lanka Tennis Association and the Ministry of Sports signed the agreement for the High Performance Training Programme, to which the Ministry will be funding partially as a part of the National Squad Training Programme. This event took place at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association premises yesterday, the 25th May 2021, adhering all the Covid-19 safety and health guidelines.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Director General - Ministry of Sports, Mr. Amal Edirisooriya, President - National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, Mr. Suresh Subramanium, President - Sri Lanka Tennis Association, Mr. Iqbal Bin Issack, General Secretary - Sri Lanka Tennis Association, Mr. Pradeep Goonasekera, a few acclaimed Tennis players of Sri Lanka and members of the National Sports Council were present at the event. This occasion marks the first time the SLTA is signing a long term agreement with the Ministry of Sports for players' development. Once the pandemic situation is controlled, the National Squad Programme will also commence soon.
